A  graduate from Leeds, Kelvin has played with artists such as Bernard ‘Pretty’ Purdie, Pucho & the Latin Soul Bros, Gilad Atzmon, Alan Barnes. He performs regularly at the major festivals in the UK and Europe which has included Swanage, Brecon, Nice and  Montauban, France.

4th     September                 Don Weller   tenor

Don Weller is one of these, along with Stan Tracey, Peter King, Bryan Spring, Evan Parker to name but a few who have been at the forefront of the British Jazz Scene for over 30 years. He led his legendary group "Major Surgery" for nine years playing his own compositions and went on to form a quartet with drummer Bryan Spring. He has long been a member of  Stan Tracey's Octet.

11th September  Paul Booth  tenor

Winner of “The Most Promising Jazz Player of the Year Under 21”, judged by John Dankworth and Chris Barber in the televised “Young Jazz Player of the Year” competition when only 16. The following year he was voted “The Best Modern Jazz Player” in the same competition judged by Kenny Ball and Ronnie Scott, who likened his mature impact to that of the young Tubby Hayes decades earlier.

Over the last thirty years Henry's work on the British jazz scene reads like a "Who's Who". He has played regularly with, amongst many others, Gordon Beck, Michael Garrick, Graham Collier, Mike Gibbs, Pete King, Loose Tubes, John Surman, John Taylor, Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler. He is one of only two or three players in the world to have had the honour of playing lead trumpet with both Gil Evans and George Russell. More recently he can be heard with the Frank Griffith ‘Nonet’ on their latest CD release.

25th September     Benn Clatworthy  tenor

A fixture in Los Angeles area clubs since 1980, Benn Clatworthy was originally heavily influenced by late-'50s John Coltrane but would soften his tone and sometimes sound a little like Warne Marsh with touches of  Sonny Rollins. He debuted on record in 1990, with his Discovery release Thanks Horace (which also features pianist Celia Coleman) and, in 1995, released While My Lady Sleeps on his own label (featuring Cedar Walton as a guest). ~ Scott Yanow,

2nd October  Gilad Atzmon   alto & clarinet

  Gilad  was born in Israel in 1963 and had his musical training at the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem . He toured with Memphis Slim and supporting many international jazz names such as Jack De Johnette, Michel Petrucciani, Richie Byrach and many others. As a member of the Blockheads, Gilad has also recorded and performed with such as Ian Dury, Robbie Williams, Sinead O'Connor and Paul McCartney.

         9th October   Art Themen    tenor & soprano

Art Themen is one of those, along with Don Weller, Peter King, Bryan Spring, Evan Parker to name but a few who have been at the forefront of the British Jazz Scene for over 30 years.  A member of the award winning Cambridge University Jazz Band form 1958 – 1961, he became involved in the London Blues scene, playing alongside Alexis Korner, Mick Jagger, and Chuck Berry. He fronted the Stan Tracy a quartet for 20 years, has toured Worldwide and played and recorded with many US and British luminaries.  

                     16th October   Dave Lewis  tenor

Dave is an American saxophonist  born in St.Louis now based in London.  An honours grad from Berklee College of Music,he studied with Billy Pierce (Art Blakey’s Jazz Mesengers), Andy Mghee (Lionel Hampton) and Gary Burton. A well known and respected player on the London Jazz scene, Dave is a passionate performer whose playing is soulful and funky. He’s toured and recorded throughout the US.,Europe and Japan. Since resident in the U.K  Dave leads his own band ‘1up’and has worked with John Martyn , Lamont Dozier, Jim Mullen, Bryan Ferry, Joan Armatrading, Tommy Chase, The Blockheads ,John Mayall, Damon Albarn and Eric Clapton.

23rd Paul Jayasinha    trumpet

Paul has worked at the top level in the UK and all over the World. He played and recorded with Alex Wilson (CDs Afro-Saxon, Anglo-Cubano and R&B Latino), Tim Garland (CD Points on the Curve), Monica Vasconcelos (CDs Nois, Nois Dois and Down We Go), Snowboy (MFOS and Mambo Rage), John Etheridge’s Zappatistas (CD Live in Leeds), the Brand New Heavies. Gilad Atzmon  Whilst at College he was featured soloist with Kenny Wheeler on the CD ‘Walk Softly’. During that time he cut his teeth alongside the likes of Courtney Pine, Jason Rebello and Steve Williamson.

30th October Christian Brewer  alto

Christian Brewer is an exciting, lyrical bop alto player who has been on the London jazz scene  for many years. His groups have featured regularly at clubs such as Ronnie Scotts, (London) the Jamboree (Barcelona); the Hotclub (Lisbon) as well as International jazz festivals across Europe. His CD `introducing Christian Brewer' and `SEESAW' were both runner up in the International Jazz competition in Granada , Spain in 2004 and 2005.

6th November  Peter King  alto   

“the finest alto saxophonist that Britain has ever produced, and one of the finest in the world today” (Dave Gelly, 'The Giants of Jazz', Aurum Press, 1986).
Although he now concentrates on his work as a solo artist and with his regular Quartet, Peter has worked and with such legends as Bud Powell, Elvin Jones, Max Roach, Milt Jackson, Lalo Schifrin, Frank Foster's ‘new' Count Basie Band and the Ray Charles Orchestra. He has also recorded with Hampton Hawes, Al Haig, Philly Joe Jones, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, and many others, including Red Rodney, who said this of Peter.. “He's got that natural growl in his playing –yet he's soft and beautiful when he wants to be.”.

                     13th November  Damon Brown trumpet

Damon performs and tours internationaly with his band and has worked with  Steve Grossman , Benny Golson, Dave Liebman , Don Braden , Rubin Wilson, Steve Wilson, Bruce Barth and also performed and recorded with Desmond Decker, The Specials, Rico Rodriguez , Paul Weller and Push.

 20th November Chris Biscoe  alto & baritone

 Chris has worked with George Russell, Mike Westbrook, Hermeto Pascoal, Chris McGregor, Kenny Wheeler, Andy Sheppard, Dewey Redman, The Dedication Orchestra and Mingus Moves, appearing as a featured soloist on more than 30 recordings.  He currently leads several bands, including British Standard Time, a celebration of the British alternative to the Great American Songbook featuring Alan Barnes, and Miles versus Monk which contrasts small band versions of two classic records, Miles Ahead and Monk's Music.

27th November  Duncan Lamont   tenor

Duncan played trumpet with Kenny Graham’s Afro Cubists then changed to tenor sax and became a jazz studio player. He played with almost everyone in show business. He has worked  (often as a featured soloist) with Henry Mancini, Robert Farnon, Benny Goodman, Gil Evans, Bill Holman, Nelson Riddle, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby, Count Basie, Fred Astaire, Benny Carter, Mel Torme, Paul McCartney…the list is endless.

 
4th December   Alex Garnett saxophones

Having been an integral member of Ray Gelatos’ Giants for several years and a member of Jools Hollands  Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Alex has gone on to forge his solo career. He works regularly with Anita Wardell and Gareth Lochranes’ award winning band ‘Grooveyard’ and is a member or the Ronnie Scotts’ All-stars band. He is currently touring his new project The New York Connection

11th  December   Nigel Price Guitar

Nigel performs as one of the Ronnie Scott¹s All Stars ­ the house band at the legendary club and up until recently was the regular guitarist with the James Taylor Quartet for 2 1/2 years. Nigel performed with the legendary David Axelrod at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004. He works regularly with Pee Wee Ellis, Alex Garnett, Matt Wates, Bobby Wellins, Alec Dankworth, Alan Barnes, Martin Drew, Ben Clatworthy, Dave O'Higgins,  Julian Siegel, to name a few.

                18th    December     Willie Garnett  BIG BAND

The is the not to be missed ‘Pre – Xmas’  party at the Jazz Club. Featuring  the World famous ‘Waddock’ Orchestra led by the great Willie Garnett !   The band features top players from the London scene including Alex Garnett,  Mike Coates,  Chris Lowe, John McNichol….etc. etc.  and will be playing arrangements by Sammy Nestico, Don Menza, Kenny Woodman, Frank Toms, Oliver Nelson, Kelvin Christiane, Benny Goodman plus many more..  also features the dulcet tones of  vocalist Lesley Christiane.
